Day 30/30. This is the final post for the 30 day tour.
“On the Road for Ethos Alliance” has been a terrific journey.
We have come to understand the necessity of coming to Ecuador to see the environmental damage first hand. It was our utmost hope and intention on the second part of this tour, the portion [...]
We’ve had some great meetings with folks in Quito during the past few days; here’s a sample of some of the people we met with:
We met with Manuel Pallares, who is a biologist and GIS satellite-mapping expert. An authority on the Secoya culture with 20 years of experience in the northern Amazon region of Ecuador, [...]
We’ve arrived back in Quito. Over the next couple days we will meet with people working in the city to find relief for those affected by the oil crisis in the Amazon.

This morning we visited several more important oil pits. Most of the pits we visited were located by streams that caught the run off. The depths varied, but some were up to 20 feet deep.

We took our vehicle in a ferry across the river.

First we’ll be visiting the oil pits in the Amazon for four days. A sort of “Toxic Tour” if you will. This will include going to the affected sites [...]
This was a terrific way to culminate the road trip.
(For those of you who aren’t aware, “30 Days for Ethos” is 20 in the United States on the road, and 10 days in Ecuador checking out the oil pits and talking to the people in Ecuador who are directly involved and directly affected.)
We arrived at [...]
We stayed at the University of Miami for Wednesday-Friday morning because the bulk of our press outreach was centered in Miami.
We started things off on Wednesday with the director of Latin American Studies, Dr. Lillian Manzor. Dr. Manzor was very kind and over the three days brought us inside several classes and introduced us to [...]
